The reconstruction of the street lighting on the promenade “Dambata” in Balchik is done in the framework of the project “Pilot Model for Construction and Funding of Solar Street Lighting in the Black Sea Municipalities” performed by Black Sea Energy Cluster in partnership with the municipality of Balchik and Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities
The focus of the pilot project was the construction of a completely new concept of street lighting which uses the latest technology in lighting and power supply from a local energy source – street lighting with LED lamps ( LED lamps etc. ) and powered by solar panels.
The system is unique for Bulgaria that for the first time the main power source is generated by fotoltaichnite panels electricity, and as a backup source in emergencies provided to use electricity from the grid.
Before the implementation of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources, lighting the driveway is carried out by 51 the number of lighting type «Gamma tohrn”, 12 pieces lights “Noemi” and 10 spherical lights. All lamps are sodium high pressure lamps with a total capacity 5,75 kW. Street lighting works 3650 hours per year at an average annual consumption 21 MWh.
Luminaires Alley ” Dambata ” before and after reconstruction :
New street lighting system includes PV-LED 68 street light poles with LED lamps. Each lamp has a power of 20 W, the total installed power is 1360 W. Photovoltaic charging station consists of 18 pieces polycrystalline photovoltaic panels with a power of 240 Wp. The total installed capacity is 4,32 kWp. The warranty period of photovoltaic panels is 25 years of LED lamps – 35,000 hours.
Economic and environmental impact of new street lighting will result in annual savings of 23 MWh of electricity and 47,3 t emissions CO2.
